Wow. I was honestly not expecting the food to be as tasty as it was at the Atlas. The Blackened Catfish (served on andouille sausage-jambalaya and buttermilk coleslaw) is amazing.
Service was great, staff was knowledgeable, and the atmosphere in their "cellar" is really nice. They also make a killer bloody mary.
The next time I visit Iowa City, I will definitely make it a point to stop back into this restaurant.
The Mac & Cheese is the bomb! Best patio in Iowa City.
I had heard of this place from my friends. I was more than pleasantly surprised. The food was different, but EXCELLENT. I will be going back for lunch and dinner. Oh, and the drinks are a little over priced, but worth it.
As most have said, Atlas is a nice place to eat but nothing spectacular. I would recommend it for lunch over dinner. If you go for lunch you can easily share a burrito ($10) and still be full! Many people love the buffalo chicken burrito which they are known for as well as their salads.
Service is generally average. And if you are choosing the Atlas for lunch its always been fast when I've been there.

American contemporary - good, but not impressive.
This place is disgusting - they think that their food is gourmet...it wouldn't last an hour outside of Iowa. Try serving that slop in Chicago or New York!!!
Can't go wrong with the mojito, buffalo chicken burrito, or mac and cheese.
Substitute rice for the potatoes in the Buffalo Chicken Burrito for a more delicious and intense buffalo flavor!
The smokin' Mary is spectacular.
If you find the Cream of Yukon Gold Potato soup as a special, get it! Same for the Soft-Shell Crab Sandwhich.
